Day 3

Where to begin... OK how about I tell you went right with this run. The weather was awesome. The sun was shinning and nice breeze.

OK, now all the things that went wrong. I only had 37 mins to get 4 miles in. Needless to say I didn't get that in. My work loop is very hilly on top of it. My running skirt shorts keep riding up so my leg chump kept chaffing. My pesory was in wrong so I ended up peeing my paints. Foot still not a 100%. About .75miles into my run I realized that I forgot to do my warm up. So, I did it after my run. That was tough!

As, you can tell it was just not a happy run!

To make it better U had a baseball game today. I had to set in the cold rain during most of the game. I had my ex's 1970's Star Wars blanket to cover me and umbrella. My bum got wet anyways. The kids go completely wet. I am still cold and I got my fleece PJ's on. LOL!

Tomorrow is 2 miles and I hope this one goes better.

Day 2 two mile run

I ran two miles today. My foot was feeling sore but nothing crazy. I was playing around with my stride and foot strike to see what felt better for my foot. Long strides with any foot strike hurt like hell. So it was going to be my normal smaller strides then. Mid and Forefoot strikes was OK but after a bit the pain amped up. The best thing was almost striking with my heel. My hips will not like this after awhile but when my foot heals more I will go back to my regular stride.

My pace was 13:07 per mile. I not excited about the pace but with my foot feeling the way it does I will take just getting out there. It was great weather. Not that hot out but shinny. Saw another runner out there and tried to cheer him on going up the hill I was going down. Most likely he thinks I am insane.

Coach Notes:

If you don't know I have a coach. His name is Glenn Westerlund. He is with Run Your Best Race, LLC . I became friends with Glenn through a great site called Dailymile. I asked Glenn to coach me for the MCM because I am so afraid that I am not going to make. I just don't want to be pick up by the sweep or patty wagon as I call it!

Well, Coach Glenn overwhelmed me with information. Once, I take my time to go over all information I will be fine. Anyways, Coach wants me to start doing a warm-up before every run. This foreign to me! I have never did a warm-up before running. I am going to give it a good try.

The warm-up is Lunges: (5reps each) http://youtu.be/-K_CiRml-vQ
Front Lunges
Front Lunges with Twist
Side Lunges
Back to the Side
Back Lunges

In a couple of weeks he wants to add a cool down. The videos that he sent me for cool down are wild! When I start them I will let you know how that goes.

Tomorrow I have 4 miles to do. I am going to try to do them during my lunch hour. What I would usually do is do 2 at work and 2 at the YMCA. U has a baseball game so going to the YMCA is not going to happen.

Today I ate about 900 calories. I will be eating more tonight to get over 1200. OTA sent me a box of muffins, scones, and crumpets as a thank you for being a director of their marathon team. So I will be going to town on these things.

Day 1 of my training for MCM

Just to let you know a muscle in my foot is bruised. I got two shots of ROIDS in my bum. Boy, that made a huge difference.  I am taking 600mg of Ibuprofen twice a day.

Today I did Les Mills body pump at my YMCA. This class is low weights and high reps. The class last about an hour. It kicks my bum every time. This is the true 1st exercise since the half marathon last Sunday. My foot felt stiff but is loosen up once the class got going. The true test will be tomorrow when I have to run 2 miles.

OK, every Monday I will do my stats:

Weight: 150
neck: 13"
chest: 36 3/4"
L bicep: 11 1/2"
R bicep: 11 3/4"
waist: 30 1/4"
hips: 40 3/4"
L thigh: 21 3/4"
R thigh: 22 1/2"
L calf: 13 3/4"
R calf: 13 1/4"

Today I ate about 1600 calories. I love Kashi Go Lean cereal. Have about 2 cups of green tea and one of them has a table spoon of Chia Seeds. I really need to start drinking more water.

I promise I will get better at this writing thing. Believe me when I say weird things happen to me. :)

Until tomorrow have great day.

I did the Pittsburgh half marathon last Sunday. My feet were hurting like crazy. The next day my right foot was a little stiff but my left  felt like hell. The next couple of days my left foot has been feeling better. Today my foot is really swelled. I made an appoint with my PCP but I can't get in until Friday. I am thinking about trying to get into orthopedic tomorrow. I am really scared that I might of broke something.

The pain in the inside of my foot. I can move it fine just it hurt to push off of it.

About me and what this blog is about.

I thought I would start a blog about my experience in training for my 1st marathon and the weird stuff that happens to me in my life. My training starts next Monday.

My name is Tricia Staley.
I live somewhere in Pittsburgh, Pa.
I am in my mid 30's.
I am a single mum of a boy that will be called "U" in this blog.
I am around 150lbs and 5'3"
I am way to open about myself.
If you don't want to hear the answer don't ask the question.
I am a horrible writer and speller. (so expect grammar and spelling mistakes)

411 on my running career:
I have been running for about 3 years now.
I have done lots of 5k and 10ks.
I have run 2 half marathons.
I would not call myself a runner but more of a run/walker.
I am planning to run my 1st full marathon in Oct. 12, 2012. The MCM!
I am the director of a charity marathon team.
I am a minimalist runner.
I wear Vibram and Newton running shoes for now.

I am planning to share measurements, weight, what I eat, what I do to train, and how I juggle all this with a full job and raising an active child. I hope to make you laugh and think. I am not here to put you down or make myself feel important. This is here keep me accountable for my training.
